About Upward Dog Training and Behaviouroogly

Jessica of Upward Dog Training

I’m Jessica, the founder of The Upward Dog training, nutrition and behaviour practice that combines positive, science-based methods with holistic therapy, such as Bach Flower Remedies and aromatherapy. I can offer help in person around Bath, Frome, Radstock, Midsomer Norton, and surrounding areas, and also online.

As the daughter oJessica of Upward Dog Training With Dachshundf a vet, animals have been a part of my life since I was born, and I find that I have a deep connection and empathy with them. I currently have two of my own, Astrid, an aging Chihuahua, and Tilly, a Dachshund Cross: they’ve both had problems that I’ve worked with, and doing this has made me a stronger practitioner.

I know exactly how it feels to have a dog that isn’t the calm companion you want him to be, and my approach is one of zero judgement: every dog owner has made mistakes in the past, but every dog has the capacity to bounce back from that.

An Upward Dog Training Companion

Aside from my qualifications and experience, including a Diploma in Canine Behaviour, I believe that the following things make me the right person to get you and your dog back to having fun together:

  • I use only methods that are comfortable for the dog: I take a force-free approach, without the use of aversives, and WITH the use of positive-reinforcement.
  • I’m a people person: I know that it will take a lot for you to seek my help, and I commit to never judging, always helping you to move forward in your relationship with your pooch.
  • Patience is something every trainer should have, and I have it by the bucket load, where dogs and their humans are concerned!
  • I know that I can help the vast majority of dogs, but I’m capable of recognising when a behaviour case needs veterinary intervention, or the use of a technique that I’m not skilled in. I will always refer you and your dog to someone else, if I’m not certain that I have the experience to help.
